Fulbright Program

Sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright Program provides funding for faculty, students, scholars and professionals to pursue advanced research, university teaching, graduate study, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools around the world. 

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program of the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Since its founding in 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided nearly 450,000 participants – chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential – with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. 

Montclair State University is proud of our continuing participation in the Fulbright Program. A Hispanic-Serving Institution, Montclair has been named a Fulbright HSI Leader each year since 2021. Our students, faculty and staff are regularly involved with or applying for Fulbright programs such as the U.S. Student Program, U.S. Scholar Program, Foreign Student Program, Outreach Lecturing Fund, Visiting Scholar Program, Scholar-in-Residence and the Fulbright Administrator Awards. For all of these award types and Fulbright activities, the Office of International Academic Initiatives is the central resource on campus.
