Montclair’s BA in Recording Arts and Production is your gateway to an exciting career in the world of sound.

Whether your passion lies in the recording studio, on film sets, or at live events, this program combines creativity with hands-on experience to help you turn that passion into a profession. With access to cutting-edge technology and a curriculum designed to keep pace with the industry, you’ll gain the skills needed to thrive in today’s fast-changing audio landscape.

You’ll explore the art and science of music through courses in Music Recording, Digital Audio Production and Songwriting, developing a strong foundation in both technical ability and creative expression. You’ll also dive into Sound Design for Film and Television, Gaming, Foley Sounds FX, and advanced production techniques, expanding your expertise across multiple areas of the field.

You’ll leave prepared for careers as a recording engineer, live audio mixer, sound designer, film mixer and Foley/ADR specialist, ready to make their mark in music, film, television and beyond. And you’ll have a digital portfolio of the work you’ve created alongside our outstanding faculty for your first job interview.

Admissions and Audition Requirements

All music applicants must complete an audition for the Cali School of Music. Your audition may consist of one or more of the following: a formal audition, an interview, a portfolio submission. The combination differs for each program. Review application and audition requirements, paying special attention to both the program requirements and the repertoire.
