John J. Cali School of Music Audition Requirements
All music applicants must complete an audition with the Cali School of Music. Your audition may consist of one or more of the following: a formal audition on an instrument or voice, an interview with faculty, or a portfolio submission.
Before You Audition
Students are eligible to audition after submitting an application to the University. Audition registration is mandatory for all applicants unless otherwise noted in your application portal.
All applicants completing a formal audition will be assigned a specific schedule for your chosen audition date. Applicants are only required to attend for their assigned times, but we ask that you please block off the full day of your audition date until you receive your assigned schedule. Due to the nature of our scheduling requirements, requests for specific audition times cannot be granted.
Please review the scheduled audition dates, as well as the registration deadline for each date. Once a registration deadline has passed, students will no longer be able to sign up for the corresponding audition. Additionally, certain audition dates carry restrictions to the type of audition method, as well as restrictions to scholarship availability.
Audition Registration & Fee
All applicants are required to register for an audition date and pay the $35 audition fee. Audition registration and fee payment is completed through the application portal. This means that students who wish to audition for the Cali School of Music must first submit an application to the University in order to initiate the audition process.
How to Register for an Audition
Audition registration is completed through your application portal. Once logged in, navigate to your application checklist and click on the “Audition Registration” link. Then, choose your audition date and method (live or video) and complete the registration form that follows. When registering for an audition, please only choose one audition date and method.
Once your registration form is successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with further information. Please be sure to check your spam folder if you do not receive the confirmation email within 24 hours.
Students who submit their application via CommonApp will receive an email with log in information to access the University’s application portal. You will need to access the University’s application portal in order to register for an audition, as this cannot be completed through the CommonApp.
Graduate Applicant Pre-Screen Requirement
Graduate level students who apply with voice as their primary instrument will be required to complete a pre-screen process prior to a formal audition. Please review the audition details below, then proceed to Pre-Screen Information.
