Sociology

Ever wonder why society is the way it is?

How are beauty standards formed? Why do people choose the partners they marry? Why are some careers seen as “men’s work” or “women’s work?”

If you’re always asking “why” you might be a sociologist in the making.

What Is Sociology?

Sociology is the scientific study of human society – how people behave within groups, and how those groups shape everything from our personal beliefs to the laws we follow.

Sociologists explore big questions about inequality, culture, institutions, and social change. If you’ve ever noticed patterns in how people act or questioned the “rules” we all seem to follow, you’re already thinking like one. See the curriculum.
