After being admitted to Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, you’ll spend your first year completing 8 Nursing prerequisite courses and First Year Seminar:
- Argumentative and Analytic Writing
- Synthesis and Research Writing
- Human Anatomy & Physiology I
- Human Anatomy & Physiology II
- General Psychology
- Sociology
- First Year Seminar
- Nutrition
- Understanding Data
Once accepted into the Nursing major, you’ll begin three years of full-time nursing coursework and clinical experiences — designed to build your confidence, sharpen your skills, and prepare you to sit for the NCLEX-RN.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission into the BSN program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Grade of C or better in all Nursing and prerequisite courses
- Minimum score of 58.7 on the TEAS entrance exam
- The TEAS exam must be taken in-person at an approved testing center
- The TEAS exam must be completed by May 15 of the year before program entry
- Spring semester courses must be completed by May 31
- Science courses must be taken within the last 5 years
Annual criminal background checks are required for program entry — and are also a prerequisite for licensure in New Jersey
Transfer Student?
No problem! Bloomfield welcomes transfer students — and we’ll work with you to make sure you get credit for the work you’ve already done.
Nursing coursework is reviewed by Bloomfield’s Nursing Program Area Coordinator and faculty for transfer eligibility, and non-nursing coursework follows Bloomfield’s standard college transfer policies.
