Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate

Montclair State University’s Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) Certificate program prepares students to support individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders. This 15-credit graduate program includes five courses designed to meet the educational requirements set forth by the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ) to meet CADC eligibility in the state of New Jersey.

Admission Requirements
- Equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree.
- Applicants with non-U.S. degrees: Please visit the international applicants page to review U.S. degree equivalency information.
- Applicants with a GPA below 2.9 will not be considered for admission.
- *F1/J1 visa seeking students are not eligible for this program.
Application Checklist
- Application Deadline: Rolling admission.
- Online Application: Submit application and $60 non-refundable fee (or waiver if applicable).
- Transcript: One from each college attended.
- Essays/Personal Statement: Please explain your interest in the Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor program, any relevant work (paid or volunteer), and how you might use this degree to advocate for your population of interest.
- Letters of Recommendation: Two required.
