International students bring the world to Montclair State University, and our team is here to help you every step of the way. Explore the options below to find the application pathway that best fits you as a freshman, transfer or graduate student.

Costs, Scholarships & Assistantships

Montclair remains committed to making education affordable for international students, regardless of country of origin. As a public institution, Montclair cannot offer need-based financial aid to international students, so unless you receive a merit-based scholarship or assistantship, you should plan to cover the full cost of attendance. International students in F‑1 or J‑1 status are charged out‑of‑state tuition.

“I never thought I would study abroad. It was a spontaneous decision, and honestly, the process was far from easy. What I value most is the professors, they are approachable, supportive and genuinely invested in their students, which keeps me motivated.”
