Parlez-vous French like a pro? Our French master’s programs allow you to decide where your expertise of French language and culture will take you. Choose between two 30-credit programs: The French Studies Concentration, designed to prepare students for teaching and research in language and literature, or the Professional Translation Concentration, which trains students for careers as qualified translators in such critical industry sectors as health, law, business, media and culture. The program develops the professional skills necessary for translating from English to French and vice versa. Why enroll in one of our French master’s programs?

  • A Master of Arts degree opens opportunities to teach in both community colleges and high schools, and provides a solid foundation for students interested in continuing their studies toward a PhD.
  • Graduate training in French is increasingly useful for positions in government and industries concerned with French-speaking areas of the world.
  • Our proximity to New York City and the metropolitan area’s vibrant pool of international industries, governmental organizations and media companies, among others, offers rich opportunities for professional networking and collaboration.

Both programs are open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree and at least 24 semester hours of undergraduate French. If you’re ready to elevate your French to the next level, this vibrant program awaits!
