Montclair State University’s dual degree Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) program prepares future leaders in public health and business administration, giving you a competitive edge in the world of healthcare management. Whether an administrator of manager, this accelerated dual-degree program allows you to earn both degrees and get into the healthcare industry that much sooner.
With combined expertise in health and business management skills, you’ll learn:
- Health promotion with an emphasis on improving health equity and access
- Assuring access to high quality, accessible and efficient health systems and services
- Instilling core business competencies, with a real-world focus on innovative problem-solving and strategic thinking

Admission Requirements
- Equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.

Application Checklist
- Application Deadline:
- Spring: October 17 early deadline, decision by November 5, rolling admissions after
- Fall: April 1 is priority deadline & get a decision by April 15, rolling admissions after
- Online Application: Submit application and $60 non-refundable fee (or waiver if applicable).
- Transcript: One from each college attended.
- Essay/Statement - The MBA and MPH programs each have their own particular lens, not easily shared by taking only one or two courses in the other program.
- Essay/Statement Prompt: The MPH curriculum is shaped around the core public health principles of health equity and social justice, as the means to improve the healthcare system and population health. The MBA curriculum is shaped around instilling core business competencies, with a real-world focus on innovative problem solving and global strategic thinking. Write a brief 500-1000 word statement about why your career goals or previous experiences lead you to pursue a dual degree that addresses both.
- Resume: A current resume detailing academic, professional and extracurricular experience.
- Letters of Recommendation: Two
- Standardized Test Scores: GRE. (All applicants with an earned bachelor’s or master’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above will automatically receive a GRE waiver)
