MSU Train Station & Parking Deck on Clove Rd.

The Montclair State community has so many options for sustainable transportation!

Public Transit

You don’t need a car to get to this “commuter campus”!

NJ Transit Discount

To promote the use of public transportation and reduce the number of single occupant vehicles driven to campus, Montclair State and NJ Transit have partnered to offer full-time undergraduate and graduate students a 25% discount on a rail, bus, or light rail monthly pass when they enroll online through NJ TRANSIT’s Quik-Tik program.

Faculty and staff are eligible for benefits through Human Resources which allow the use of pre-tax dollars to pay for transit passes and parking.

Buses & Trains

The campus is served by five bus lines  – four from NJ Transit and one private carrier. Additionally, Montclair State’s shuttle fleet is free and open to the public. Our buses run on low sulfur diesel fuel which reduces the emission of harmful pollutants, such as nitrogen oxide and particulate matter.

There are two train stations adjacent to the University campus – Montclair State University station at the north end and Montclair Heights station at the south end.

The University encourages students, faculty and staff to use bicycles.

Students may rent bicycles through the Student Recreation Center’s Bike Lending Program.

There are bike racks located throughout campus – check our map of bike rack locations.

No wheels? No problem!

Montclair State has partnered with Zipcar to offer car-sharing to students, faculty, and staff at a discounted rate.
