The Continued Relevance of Hands on Technologies: Creating Art and Fraction Understanding presented by Elise Lahiere, Eileen Fernández, Eliza Leszczynski

During the NJAMTE Annual Conference, doctoral candidate Elise Lahiere, Dr. Eileen Fernandez, and Dr. Eliza Leszczynski invited participants to represent fraction factors and a product of their choice in a tactile manner by folding, cutting, and overlaying colored, cellophane sheets. By demonstrating the traditional area representation of fraction multiplication and a more innovative pinwheel illustration, they introduced participants to new possibilities, expanding the conversation beyond conventional models and highlighting artistic dimensions of mathematics. It was a really fun presentation, congrats to all!
