Adirondacks Variety Trip - SOLD OUT

In January we will be spending 5 days and 4 nights in Upstate New York. This trip is a winter excursion to the Adirondacks where there will be skiing, hiking, skating and tubing in the largest park in the country.

Intramural Sports is a program designed to offer opportunities for participation in a wide variety of sports and activities at the collegiate level. Many students have played sports at the high school or recreational level, and Intramural Sports affords the opportunity to stay active in sports without the time commitments or skills level of the varsity player. This deadline is for Basketball. All registration payments must be made in the Student Recreation Center main office and all players must be registered on IMLeagues.com. MSU club or organization fee is $60.




Spaghetti Social

Commuter Rec League Registration Deadline

Interested in joining Intramural sports, but do not have enough time in your commuter schedule? COMMUTER RECREATIONAL LEAGUE IS BACK. The program starts 2/9 and runs every Thursday until 3/2 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. with food being served after the game. Each week participants will vote on their choice of the sport they will pay and the food that will be served. Only $10 to participate for the whole semester. Join now!




Indoor Triathlon

Participants compete in time-based events, including swimming, biking and running. Each person is assigned a lane, bike, and treadmill on which to compete. There is a 15, then 5 minute transition between each event. The transition from swim to bike is 15 minutes, and the transition from bike to run is 5 minutes.

Super Bowl Bash

Easy Hike - Musconetcong Gorge

An easy, 3-mile loop at Musconetcong Gorge in Hunterdon County. This trip features the Musconetcong River, a waterfall, and an abandoned railroad! Registration begins on January 16.

Horseback Riding

Advanced Hike Balsam Mountain

Tighten up your laces and hike with us to the top of Balsam Mountain! This advanced hike is 4.35 miles and gains over 1500 feet in elevation. The challenge of this trail is met with the reward of a east-facing, panoramic view of Big Indian State Park. Hiking boots are strongly recommended but sneakers are acceptable.




2017 Red Hawk Color Blast

The 14th Red Hawk Run Color Blast is a thrilling 5K open to participants of all backgrounds. The event this year will benefit the newly established Montclair State University On-Campus Food Pantry. Based on a campus survey, food insecurity showed up as a real struggle for a significant number of students. Net proceeds for this event will be donated towards the On-Campus Food Pantry to assist those in need.




Mets Vs Marlins

Moderate Hike - Black River

Join us for an intermediate loop of 6.4 miles that takes place along the scenic Black River in Morris County. This trail follows an abandoned railroad corridor, and includes the old Hacklebarney Mine and ends at the Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center. Get ready for a spectacular gorge and secluded waterfalls.

What to bring: Water, good walking shoes (sneakers acceptable), bug spray, and layered weather appropriate clothing.

There's no better way to start off the summer than by enjoying an end of the year camping trip with your friends! This weekend long camping trip features a hike along a series of waterfalls and lakeside tent camping at Rickets Glen State Park in Pennsylvania! We will prepare all meals.

What to bring:: Sturdy shoes, bedding, toiletries, snacks, and empty water bottles. NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED.

White Water Rafting

Come and enjoy a day of White Water Rafting to the Lehigh River. It will be a fun, day long excursion in Pennsylvania with some seasoned rafting professionals. All levels are welcome; no prior experience is necessary! Begins and ends at the Student Recreation Center. Registration begins on September 2.

What to Bring: For warmer days come prepared with a towel, swim suit or quick-drying shorts and sandals with a heel strap, old sneakers, or water socks that you don’t mind getting wet. For cooler days, bring some extra layers, but be sure to avoid cotton as it will keep you cold and wet.
Half- or full wet suits can be rented from the organization. Half is $6, full is $12, jacket is $4.
A hotdog BBQ provided after, free of charge. Any other food or snacks should be brought with you.

Come join RecBoard and the Student Recreation Center at the American Heart Association Walk in Essex County. Students must register online on The American Heart Walk Association website AND at the Student Recreation Center main office in order to get a free bus ride to the event. On the AHA website a donation will be requested, but is not required. Participants may choose to make a donation at the event. Bus leaves Student Rec Center promptly at 7 a.m., if you are transporting yourself the event begins at 8 a.m.(1 ADP Boulevard, Roseland, NJ).

3v3 Basketball Tournament

Montclair Bikey Turkey Ride

Hawk on Wheels will be joining the Montclair Bikery in its annual Turkey Ride charity ride/fundraiser. Riders will meet at the Student Rec Center and then travel to the Montclair Bikery where the approximate 15 mile bike ride to Brookedale ShopRite will begin. Turkeys can be purchased for $20 at the ShopRite and then ridden to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair.

Registration for the event is free at BikeReg.com. A free Hawk on Wheels bike will be available to ride for the charity ride. Participants who purchase a turkey will receive a free month Hawk on Wheels rental and receive a water bottle. This charming hike in India Brook Park is reminiscent of prairies one would normally have to be much further west to enjoy. Weave your way through reeds and wetlands until you reach gorgeous Buttermilk Falls. Please be sure to wear sturdy, water-resistant or water-proof footwear.

Most of this stunning autumnal hike in Ramapo Valley County Reservation happens along a duck pond where seasonal wildlife can be spotted. This hike offers an expansive view over northwestern Bergen County. On clear days, the Manhattan skyline is visible in the distance. The climb is slow, steady and steep, but worth the views!
