Adirondacks Variety Trip - SOLD OUT

In January we will be spending 5 days and 4 nights in Upstate New York. This trip is a winter excursion to the Adirondacks where there will be skiing, hiking, skating and tubing in the largest park in the country.

Group Xpo

Intramural Sports is a program designed to offer opportunities for participation in a wide variety of sports and activities at the collegiate level. Many students have played sports at the high school or recreational level, and Intramural Sports affords the opportunity to stay active in sports without the time commitments or skills level of the varsity player. This deadline is for Basketball. All registration payments must be made in the Student Recreation Center main office and all players must be registered on IMLeagues.com. MSU club or organization fee is $60.




Spaghetti Social

Commuter Rec League Registration Deadline

Interested in joining Intramural sports, but do not have enough time in your commuter schedule? COMMUTER RECREATIONAL LEAGUE IS BACK. The program starts 2/9 and runs every Thursday until 3/2 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. with food being served after the game. Each week, participants will vote on their choice of the sport they will play and the food that will be served. Only $10 to participate. Join now!




Indoor Triathlon

Participants compete in time-based events, including swimming, biking and running. Each person is assigned a lane, bike, and treadmill on which to compete. There is a 15, then 5 minute transition between each event. The transition from swim to bike is 15 minutes, and the transition from bike to run is 5 minutes.

Super Bowl Bash

Central Park Trip

Come spend the day on a trip through New York City! This trip includes ice skating rental in Bryant Park, followed by a group walk through Central Park. Along the way, we will tour Grand Central Station and the Belvedere Castle!

PALentine's Day Dive-In Movie

Join Campus Recreation for a PALentine's Day movie night. This semester's feature film is: Finding Dory. Innertubes and boats will be provided so that you can float while you watch the movie. School of Rock The Musical

Arena Football

Key Log Rolling Tournament

Join Campus Recreation for our first-annual Key Log Rolling Tournament!

Test your balance on our Key Log! – a 12-foot solid, plastic log that spins freely in our shallow end of the pool. Swimming skills are not required, but you will get wet!

Starting Monday, March 20, the Key Log will be available every day so that interested individuals can practice. Then, on Wednesday, March 29, Campus Recreation will host a time-based tournament to crown students as beginner and advanced log rolling champions!

Easy Hike - Columbia Trail

Looking for a nice day out with your friends? Join us on an easy hike at Ken Lockwood Gorge in Hunterdon County. This 3.5 mile hike follows the path of a historical railroad and even a series of mysterious gnome villages! This is no April Fool's Day Prank.

What to bring: Water, good walking shoes (sneakers acceptable), bug spray, and layered weather appropriate clothing.
Potential Hazards: Unpredictable weather changes, sunburn/heat exhaustion, dehydration, allergic reactions/poisonous plants, insect bites, injuries; sprains, lacerations, abrasions or fractures.

Learn horseback riding basics at the Spring Valley Equestrian Center, located in Newton, NJ. We'll go on a gorgeous trail ride through beautiful fields and trails with fantastic views of the Appalachian Trail Ridge to High Point.




Hammock Day

Full Moon Hike

Strap on a head lamp and enjoy this late-night hike under the light of the moon with the Manhattan skyline at the end! Registration begins on January 16.




Advanced Hike Balsam Mountain

Tighten up your laces and hike with us to the top of Balsam Mountain! This advanced hike is 4.35 miles and gains over 1500 feet in elevation. The challenge of this trail is met with the reward of a east-facing, panoramic view of Big Indian State Park. Hiking boots are strongly recommended but sneakers are acceptable.




2017 Red Hawk Color Blast

The 14th Red Hawk Run Color Blast is a thrilling 5K open to participants of all backgrounds. The event this year will benefit the newly established Montclair State University On-Campus Food Pantry. Based on a campus survey, food insecurity showed up as a real struggle for a significant number of students. All proceeds for this event will be donated towards the On-Campus Food Pantry to assist those in need. The first 100 people to register will receive a t-shirt for the event!

Moderate Hike - Black River

Join us for an intermediate loop of 6.4 miles that takes place along the scenic Black River in Morris County. This trail follows an abandoned railroad corridor, and includes the old Hacklebarney Mine and ends at the Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center. Get ready for a spectacular gorge and secluded waterfalls.

What to bring: Water, good walking shoes (sneakers acceptable), bug spray, and layered weather appropriate clothing.

There's no better way to start off the summer than by enjoying an end of the year camping trip with your friends! This weekend long camping trip features a hike along a series of waterfalls and lakeside tent camping at Rickets Glen State Park in Pennsylvania! We will prepare all meals.

What to bring:: Sturdy shoes, bedding, toiletries, snacks, and empty water bottles. NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED.
Potential Hazards: Poisonous plants/allergies, insect bites, unpredictable weather changes, sunburn/heat exhaustion, dehydration, steed, rocky, and/or slippery terrain, rolling or falling rocks, snakes and large animals, injuries including sprains/strains, abrasions, lacerations and fractures.




Mountain Top Yoga

Grab a breath of fresh air and unwind before finals kick in! This afternoon features a short hike through Mills County Park that includes an instructed yoga class. You will be able to practice your salutations all within sight of the skyline! Yoga mats will be provided.
