What are Special Events

The Department of Campus Recreation hosts a variety of events throughout the year for the students of Montclair State University. We host many free events, as well as fundraisers for various local charities. Events are sponsored ‌by RecBoard, a student-run campus organization. The goal of our events is to help students get involved on campus, while having fun!

Blanket Making

Do you like making an impact on someone’s life? Join us as we create blankets for those in need in order to aid them in their time of need. Blankets will be donated to the United Community Corp. of Newark.  Service hours will be provided as well.

Books For Africa

Do you have unwanted books lying around your dorm? Or at home? Bring them over to our Books for Africa: Book Drive! The Books for Africa Organization collects, sorts, and ships books, computers, tablets, and library enhancement materials to every country in Africa in collaboration with worldwide donors, publishers, and African partners. Be a part of making a difference, one book at a time.

  • The Entire Month of February (Feb 1-28)

Rec World Tour - Asian Games and Escape Room

Come join us as we reminisce about the past and revisit our childhoods! Release your inner child by trying out popular kids games from Asia. Bring your friends and compete through game boards and an escape room as well!! Test your luck with our at-the-door raffle to win a rice cooker, bubble tea kit and more!

Super Bowl Bash

Come with your friends to experience a Super Bowl “tailgate” at the student recreation center.  We’ll have a Super Bowl spread with chicken wings, pizza and more!  Watch the Super Bowl and eat free food!

Brooklyn Nets vs Miami Heat Game

Get psyched to see the Brooklyn Nets take on the Miami Heat on Thursday, March 3 at the Barclays Center.  Exciting News:  Your ticket includes the extra experience of being down at courtside to watch the players warm up before the game!  Round-trip bus transportation is provided for free and will leave at 5:00 p.m. from the Student Recreation Center on March 3. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.

How do I Sign-up? 

  • Purchase your ticket online via ActiveNet. Seats are in Section 214.
  • Students: $30 | Guests: $60

  • Bus leaves from the Student Recreation Center at 5 p.m.
New York Mets vs Washington Nationals Game

Bring a friend to enjoy an afternoon of baseball on Saturday, April 2 at Citi Field when the New York Mets play against the Washington Nationals.  Round-trip bus transportation is provided for free and will leave at 11:00 a.m. from the Student Recreation Center on April 2.

How do I sign-up?

  • Purchase your tickets online via ActiveNet. Seats are in Section 109, Rows 27-31, Seats 13-22
  • Students: $20 | Guests: $40
