Description

Unified sports is both soccer and basketball offered through Special Olympics that promotes inclusion through sports. By doing so, the program generates both friendship and understanding between students at every level. Unified Sports is open to students of all academic and athletic ability, and seeks to provide an opportunity to educate our students about social inclusion. Unified Sports teams consist of an even mixture of students with and without disabilities. Teams are designed to create a level playing field of ability, thereby keeping games challenging and exciting. By practicing and playing together, it is the mission of Unified Sports to grow a culture of inclusiveness within our schools through athletics. By forming meaningful friendships and creating opportunities for genuine athletic experiences, Unified Sports aims to help bring the world into the future of inclusion.
