Complete the FAFSA

 

February - April

  1. Apply for outside Scholarships
  2. Visit websites like fastweb.com
  3. Email companies directly to see if they offer Scholarships
  4. Review the school’s cost calculator

 

March

  1. Look over financial aid awards
  2. Contact the financial aid office to go over award
  3. Review the total cost for the upcoming year and determine what will be the out of pocket expenses
  4. Check WESS account to see if you owe any documents

 

April

  1. Go to Freshman Preview and talk to the Financial Aid representative
  2. Figure out options with the payment plan and/or Parent PLUS loans and/or private loans
  3. Check WESS account to see if you owe any documents

 

May

  1. Make deposit at school
  2. Figure out options with the payment plan and/or Parent PLUS loans and/or private loans
  3. Check WESS account to see if you owe any documents

 

June

  1. Apply for private loans
  2. Decide if you are taking your Stafford loans
  • If you are taking your Stafford loans sign the master promissory note and complete the entrance counseling at www.studentloans.gov
  • If you are NOT taking your Stafford loans, decline them via your WESS account
  1. Figure out options with the payment plan and/or Parent PLUS loans and/or private loans
  2. Check WESS account to see if you owe any documents

 

July

  1. If you haven’t done so yet, decide if you are taking your Stafford loans
  • If you are taking your Stafford loans sign the master promissory note and complete the entrance counseling at www.studentloans.gov
  • If you are NOT taking your Stafford loans, decline them via your WESS account
  1. Figure out options with the payment plan and/or Parent PLUS loans and/or private loans
  2. Check WESS account to see if you owe any documents

 

August

  1. Pay the difference of your bill
  • Subtract estimated aid, Parent PLUS and/or private loans that are posted on WESS

 

September

  1. Are you adding and dropping classes?  Check with Financial Aid to see how that will affect your aid.

 

September – December
