Visiting Student Information (Fall 2012)

Please be sure to read and follow the directions contained herein, as they are important for you to have a successful registration.

The registration information here and online is for students currently enrolled and in good academic standing at a regionally accredited college or university other than Montclair State University.

Undergraduate students (students who have not been awarded a bachelor's degree) must apply online. Log on to WESS at: www.montclair.edu. From Quick Links, select "Apply: Undergraduate." Enrollment as an undergraduate visiting student is a temporary status that Montclair State University makes available to students who are matriculated at other institutions. This status is limited to a maximum total of two semesters excluding summer sessions. After two semesters, students must file an application for admission to a degree program and be accepted before further enrollment will be permitted. Regular academic retention standards also apply to visiting students. Students who have been denied regular admission to MSU are not eligible to be visiting students during the semester for which they applied.

Graduate students must complete the online application (Non-Degree-Visiting Student) and submit official transcripts from their current institution. Please log on to http://www.montclair.edu/graduate/prospective/app.php. Upon registration, students will be assessed a non-refundable $25 Visiting Student fee.

Undergraduate and Graduate Visiting Student Applications are valid for one semester only. A new form must be submitted each semester in order to register for course(s) at Montclair State University. Students who wish to become an undergraduate degree candidate at Montclair State University must file a formal application for admission with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students who wish to become a graduate student at Montclair State University must file a formal application for admission with The Graduate School.

Upon completion and submission of the Visiting Student Application, you will be eligible to register beginning August 22, 2012. Log on to the Web Enrollment Services for Students (WESS) at wfs.montclair.edu. Visiting students attempting to register prior to August 22, 2012 will not be able to do so.

All new students who have yet to establish a PIN must change their assigned PIN, which is the date of birth on file (mm/dd/yy), to a six-digit number of their choosing.

You should use the convenience of WESS to obtain your schedule, tuition and fee information, and payment instructions. For further BILLING INFORMATION, log on to http://www.montclair.edu/studentaccounts.

It is the policy of Montclair State University not to process financial aid (Federal or State, including loans) for "Visiting Students" attending during the academic year. The Financial Aid Office (College Hall, Room 208) will assist these students with the completion of forms required by their home institution to process financial aid.

Academic advising is not available for Visiting Students. Please consult with your home institution for advisement and course selection.
