Registration & Advisement Information - Fall 2009

Registrations are processed on the web through WESS at wfs.montclair.edu. WESS is available Monday-Friday 7am-11pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm-6pm. Please check the WESS System Availability and Registration Chart for additional information.

Academic Advisement
All students should obtain Academic Advisement before registering for classes.

Students can access their Analysis of Academic Progress through WESS at wfs.montclair.edu. Students with questions regarding their analysis should make the appropriate contacts as listed below:

Undergraduate students who have declared a major should contact their faculty advisor in their major department. The list of Undergraduate Faculty Advisors can be found at:

Undergraduate students who have not declared a major and who are no longer Freshmen should contact the Center for Academic Advising and Adult Learning at (973) 655-7114.

First year students should contact New Student Experience at (973) 655-7609.

Provisionally enrolled first year students should contact the New Student Experience Office at (973) 655-7069.

Adult Learning students should contact the Center for Academic Advising and Adult Learning at (973) 655-7114.

Graduate students should contact their graduate program coordinator or assigned faculty advisor in their major department. A current list of graduate program coordinators can be found at www.montclair.edu/graduate/current/adviserlist.shtml. Non-degree graduate students may contact the department(s) in which they wish to pursue courses or The Graduate School.

Eligibility to Register-Current or Returning Students
Students who are enrolled for the Spring 2009 semester and who are eligible to register will be assigned a Registration Priority. The Registration Priority assignment is a specific date and time at which point the student will be able to register through WESS. Students must obtain their personal Registration Priority assignment by logging on to WESS at wfs.montclair.edu. After logging on to WESS, select Registration Status (below the heading "Registration"), then select the appropriate term (semester). Students will be able to identify their Registration Priority on WESS in late March. Registration Priority assignments will be between April 6 - 14, 2009.

Undergraduate students who are enrolled for the Spring 2009 semester will be assigned a Registration Priority according to the number of credits earned. Credits for which students are enrolled during the Spring 2009 semester are not counted toward credits earned.

Graduate students who are enrolled for the Spring 2009 semester will be assigned a Registration Priority according to the number of credits earned and within their classification status. Students who have matriculated into their given program will be assigned a higher priority than those with deferred matriculated, conditionally matriculated, and non-degree status. Credits for which students are enrolled during the Spring 2009 semester are not counted toward credits earned.

Undergraduate and Graduate students who were enrolled for the Fall 2008 semester but are not enrolled for the Spring 2009 semester and did not graduate in January 2009 should contact the Office of the Registrar at (973) 655-4376 to determine eligibility to register. See WESS System Availability and Registration Chart for registration dates and times.

Undergraduate students, who were not enrolled for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters, should contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office at (973) 655-4444.

Graduate students, who were not enrolled for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters, should contact The Graduate School at (973) 655-5147.

Visiting Students will be permitted to register beginning August 19, 2009. Please refer to Visiting Student Information and Procedures or Visiting Graduate/Post-Baccalaureate Student Information Form for further information.

Older Adult Tuition Waiver (OLA) Program students will be permitted to register beginning August 28, 2009. Please contact the Center for Academic Advising and Adult Learning at (973) 655-7114 for further information.

NJ Unemployed Persons: Job Training Program students will be permitted to register beginning September 2, 2009. Please contact the Center for Academic Advising and Adult Learning at (973) 655-7114 for further information.

Eligibility to Register-Newly Admitted Students
Newly admitted first-time first-year students must register during New Student Orientation in June, July and August. Information will be sent upon admission to the University. New Student Orientation is mandatory for newly admitted full-time first year Students.

New students, with the exception of first-year students, are eligible to register for the Fall 2009 semester beginning April 6, 2009 through WESS at wfs.montclair.edu.

All new students who have yet to establish a PIN must access WESS to change their assigned PIN, which is the date of birth on file (MM/DD/YY), to a six-digit number of their choosing.
