Leadership Development Through Civic Engagement

Do you see yourself as a leader or do you want to become one? Do you want to work with others to improve the community and world you live in? Develop practical life skills in leadership while growing your knowledge base with the Leadership Development Through Civic Engagement minor!
In this program, you will be taught how to serve and to motivate others to attain their highest potential, and learn to set direction and motivate the commitment of others to navigate change in the world. As part of this minor you will gain real-world experience engaging in your community to facilitate your development as a leader.
The 18-credit minor is open to students of all majors and is designed to give you the tools to engage and lead others in your chosen field. The three major components to the minor are:
- Completing the Psychology of Leadership course
- Completing one course in each of these four areas – Ethics/Values, Diverse Perspectives, Effective Citizenship, and Relational Dynamics
- Completing a co-operational internship – where you can practice and reflect upon leadership in your chosen field
