University Police Department

Our Patrol Division is the backbone of day-to-day campus safety. Uniformed officers patrol campus on foot, bike, and by vehicle 24 hours a day, seven days a week — responding quickly to emergencies and addressing concerns as they arise.

From handling criminal and non-criminal calls to managing traffic, responding to EMS requests, and enforcing state and motor vehicle laws, patrol officers are often the first point of contact when you need help. Their constant presence helps prevent incidents and maintain a safe, orderly campus environment.

Emergency call boxes are located throughout the campus and are easily recognized by the BLUE LIGHT above the phone. These emergency phones connect you directly to the University Police Department.

When a crime is reported, our Detective Bureau takes it from there. Specially trained detectives handle follow-up investigations, work to identify and apprehend offenders, and manage evidence tied to each case.

Beyond investigations, detectives also support you in moments that matter — offering crisis intervention, helping connect you to legal and medical resources, and making sure you’re aware of the services available to you through University Police. A detective is always on call, 24/7, so support is never far away.

Safety works best when it’s a shared effort. Our Community Services & Programs focus on building strong relationships between University Police and the campus community through education, outreach, and prevention.

Officers provide programs and resources around self-defense, sexual assault prevention, online safety, emergency preparedness, and residential and office safety. By keeping communication open and working together, we’re able to identify concerns early and improve quality of life across campus.

Our Professional Standards Division exists to make sure we earn — and keep — your trust. This team oversees accountability, transparency, and the overall quality of police services on campus.

Through regular oversight, including mandatory drug testing and a formal Early Warning System that monitors officer conduct, this division works to identify concerns early and take corrective action when needed. The goal is simple: uphold integrity, strengthen community trust, and ensure policing on campus meets the highest professional standards.

Our officers use body-worn cameras to promote transparency, accountability, and trust during interactions on campus. These cameras help document incidents accurately, protect both students and officers, and support fair, objective review when questions arise. It’s one more way we work to ensure safety while holding ourselves to high professional standards.
