University Police Department
You should feel safe wherever your day takes you on campus. Our University Police Department is here 24/7 to protect you, respond quickly, and support a campus environment where you can focus on learning, living, and thriving.
Who We Are
The Montclair State University Police Department is a fully sworn, professional law enforcement agency dedicated to keeping you safe on campus. All police officers are trained and certified by the New Jersey State Police Training Commission and complete a rigorous basic training program at the Passaic County Police Academy.
The department is currently staffed by:
- 33 full-time police officers patrol on foot, bike, and vehicle around the clock, respond to emergencies, and work proactively to prevent incidents before they happen.
- Seven dispatchers work behind the scenes to make sure the right help reaches you quickly, when and where you need it.
