Accessibility & Disability Community Resources
We believe everyone deserves access to a quality education and college experience without barriers. You’ll find support, care, and resources designed to help you fully participate in every part of campus life.
Montclair is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible campus where you can learn, live, and truly feel at home.
Across campus, most academic and residential buildings are wheelchair accessible, and you’ll have access to curb-to-curb shuttle service, academic accommodations, assistive technology, and housing options like accessible bathrooms and adaptive furniture — all so you can move through campus with confidence, comfort, and ease.
Support That Meets You Where You Are
Montclair offers a range of resources designed to support you throughout your college experience — whether you need them every day or just once in a while.
Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Shuttle Service
Getting around campus should never be a barrier. Montclair’s Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Shuttle Service is a complimentary transportation option designed to help you move through campus.
Available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors with short-term or temporary conditions, injuries, or chronic conditions, the PWD Shuttle offers up to four rides per day. Whether you’re heading to class, grabbing a meal, or getting to another University-related activity, the service helps ensure you can fully participate in campus life.
Emotional Support & Service Animals
We recognize the important role service animals and emotional support animals can play in your well-being and access to campus life.
If you use a service animal, your animal is welcome anywhere on University property where you’re permitted to be. Your access, dignity, and independence are respected, and you won’t be asked to disclose personal or medical information.
Emotional support animals (ESA) are also permitted in approved campus housing in accordance with University policy, helping ensure your living space feels supportive and comfortable.
Academic Accommodations & Assistive Technology
Your learning experience should work for you. Montclair offers a range of academic accommodations and assistive technologies designed to support the way you learn, engage, and succeed.
You may be eligible for academic accommodations such as additional time on exams, note-taking assistance, digital or audio textbooks, captioning or ASL interpreting, and early registration. Montclair also offers assistive technology options — including assistive listening devices, digital recorders, screen readers and magnification tools, dictation and text-to-speech software, and graphic organizing software — to support the way you learn best.
These resources are here to help you access coursework, participate fully in class, and focus on learning in a way that feels right for you.
