Team Rocky
Team Rocky is the powerhouse crew behind Montclair’s mascot magic. Made up of dedicated undergraduate student leaders, you’ll see them bringing the Red Hawk spirit to life — hyping up crowds, energizing events, and representing the University with pride.
Whether they’re welcoming new students, firing up game-day audiences, or making surprise appearances at campus and community events, Team Rocky is all about creating joyful, unforgettable moments. Their enthusiasm, school pride, and commitment to tradition make them one of the most recognizable and loved groups on campus.
Behind the scenes, Team Rocky members train together, support one another, and represent the University with professionalism, creativity, and heart. They maintain high academic and conduct standards and uphold one of Montclair’s most meaningful traditions: the students who perform as Rocky and Roxy reveal their identities only at graduation — stepping onto the stage in their cap and gown wearing Rocky or Roxy’s feet so the community can finally cheer them on.

Rocky
Hatched on October 5, 2001, Rocky the Red Hawk has been spreading Red Hawk Pride for more than two decades. He shows up at over 300 events a year, hyping up students, welcoming guests and keeping Red Hawk spirit alive. When he’s not on campus, you’ll catch him on TikTok, Instagram or co-hosting his popular YouTube series, Rocky on the Street.
Roxy
Roxy, Rocky’s little sister, hatched on March 18, 2018 — and she’s been stealing hearts ever since. She’s a true girl’s girl: quirky, dramatic and the biggest cheerleader you’ll ever have in your corner. Whether she’s dancing, posing or hyping up the crowd, Roxy always brings the energy.
Deacon
Deacon is the bold, lovable bear who represents the Bloomfield campus. Don’t let his tough look fool you — he’s known for his killer dance moves and his kind, friendly personality. Deacon joined the Montclair family in 2023 when Bloomfield College officially merged with Montclair State University, and he celebrates his birthday on February 2.
Pebbles
Pebbles is Montclair’s beloved “pupscot,” a mini labradoodle born on November 1, 2022. She may be tiny, but her presence is huge! She’s always ready to charm a crowd with her big heart and boundless energy. Pebbles lives on campus with Thea Dyer, Associate Director for Residence Life, and you can follow her adorable adventures on Instagram.
