What are Special Events
The Department of Campus Recreation hosts a variety of events throughout the year for the students of Montclair State University. We host many free events, as well as fundraisers for various local charities. Events are sponsored by RecBoard, a student-run campus organization. The goal of our events is to help students get involved on campus, while having fun!

Spring 2026 Events!
On January 27, 2026, the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings will square off in an exciting game. Zach LaVine and Demar Derozen versus Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony-Towns. Anticipate hard defense, quick-paced attack, and a fight that can end on the last possession. Additionally, we get to see the players warm up and shoot about during the “on court experience” before the game.

Get ready for an unforgettable night of hockey on Thursday, February 5th, as the Devils and Islanders face off in an electrifying, high-energy rivalry matchup that never disappoints. Expect fast breaks, big hits, and the kind of intense, head-to-head action that keeps the crowd on its feet from start to finish. Whether you’re a lifelong hockey fan or just looking for an exciting night out with friends, this is the game you’ll want to be at. The tickets are $30, and transportation will be provided from the Student Rec Center at 5 PM—just show up, hop on, and enjoy the ride.

Mark your calendar! On Friday, January 30th, we’re taking over the ice at the Montclair State Ice Arena for a chill afternoon of skating, music, and yummy food. The fun continues off the ice in the spectacular Glow Room, filled with lights and an energetic atmosphere that takes the party to the next level. Come hang out with friends, try out some new moves, or just vibe to the music while you glide around the rink. All students are invited to join the fun, and there will be exciting prizes throughout the event, including American Dream Big SNOW Tickets, an iPad, and a Smart TV. This is one winter event you won’t want to miss.
