Track Constitution

Article I. Name

The name of this organization shall be Montclair State Track Club.

Article II. Purpose

  1. To give students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to compete in running races and provide a fitness alternative to the school teams.
  2. To unite all Montclair State Universityƒ runners

Article III. Membership

Anyone currently enrolled as a student, faculty or staff member at Montclair State may join.

Article IV. Officers

The organization of MSTC shall include the four officers as needed. Officers may be removed from office by a vote. Notice must be given at the monthly meetings for proposal to remove. If removal is necessary vacancy will be filled at the next monthly meeting.

  • President
    1. Shall set up practice times.
    2. Shall decide in which races to participate.
    3. Shall be responsible for the implementation of the above purpose in accordance with Article II.
    4. Shall see that provisions of this constitution are followed.
    5. Shall keep records of cash disbursements.
    6. Shall be responsible and reliable for the records.
  • Vice President
    1. Shall discharge the duties of the Director in his/her absence or in the event that a vacancy occurs in the Director position.
    2. Shall inform members of upcoming events.
  • Secretary
    1. Shall maintain club board and showcase
    2. Shall handle communications for club events
    3. Shall attend meetings
  • Treasurer
    1. Shall write the budget
    2. Shall keep track of spending

Article V. Elections

  • Elections will be held during May for the following year.
  • Nominations will be made at the May meetings.
  • Election will be decided by a plurality vote.

Article VI. Quorum

  • Meetings shall take place during regular practice time.
  • Races may be attended by any or all of the club members whenever there is an opportunity to, depending on the schedule.
  • Monthly meetings
    1. There must be at least 35% plus one of the club officers present for monthly meetings to take place.
    2. Regular monthly meetings will be held to discuss topics related to practice and races.
    3. The club director will announce the date, time, and place of the monthly meeting.

Article VII. Finances

  • Members may participate in fundraising activities.
  • The director will be responsible for the budget.

Article VIII. Committees

If committees are necessary, they will be only temporary.

Article IX. Amendments to the Constitution

  • The MSTC will not discriminate towards any Montclair State students or faculty members.
  • Members of Montclair State University and the running club can propose amendments to the constitution at any Montclair State meeting. An amendment shall be added by a simple majority vote with at least 50% plus one present.

Any currently enrolled student or faculty member may participate regardless of race, creed, color, sexual orientation, sex, national origin, religion, age, veteran or marital status, or disability.
