Teaching and Learning Resources

In partnership with the Office of the Provost and Montclair State faculty members, the OFA is pleased to offer the following resources for all teaching faculty to use in collaboration with the Montclair Interest Group against Human Trafficking (MIGHT). With the January 2020 “Out of the Shadows” installation commencing with the start of the Spring 2020 semester, faculty are encouraged to consider integrating the issue of human trafficking and the unique elements of this particular project into their Spring 2020 courses. To support teaching related to “Out of the Shadows,” OFA has assembled teaching ideas, modules, readings, and other resources to design your own assignments.

For consideration:

  • Fourteen University teaching and learning modules developed by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Each unit includes readings, short videos, lesson guides and notes, in-class activities and exercises, and more. Please begin by referring to the Teaching Guide on how to effectively use these modules to engage students and help them learn about this critical issue in the context of course discipline and as global citizens.
  • Stanford’s Human Rights Education Initiative (SHREI) website with four downloadable lesson plans from across the disciplines: political science, fashion, peace studies, and an interdisciplinary unit.
  • Create your own! Use our enhanced Course Design Reference Sheet to design your own learning module, activity, assessment, or assignment that leverages this special project as a unique and singular learning moment for your students.

Share your own Human Trafficking (or related topics) teaching and learning assignment, activity, guided discussion notes, and readings and/or resources with your Montclair State colleagues. We will post them here and attribute them to you as a shared practice. Please send all submissions to Dr. Emily Isaacs, Executive Directory, OFA, isaacse@montclair.edu.
