Naomi Liebler Publishes New Book: A Cultural History of Tragedy in the Early Modern Age

Congratulations to Professor Naomi Liebler on the publication of her latest book, her fifth, A Cultural History of Tragedy in the Early Modern Age, just out from Bloomsbury as part of a new six-volume series of edited collections on tragedy from antiquity to the present. Liebler’s commissioned volume covers two hundred fifty years, and addresses a range of topics in tragedy including performance and circulation, religion and ritual, politics and society, and gender and sexuality.

This is Liebler’s second publication this year. Last June her invited essay on teaching Shakespeare at MSU, “‘Who’s There?’ ‘Nay, Answer me. Stand and unfold yourself’: Attending to Students in Diversified Settings”, was published in How and Why We Teach Shakespeare: College Teachers and Directors Share How They Explore the Playwright’s Works with Their Students, ed. Sidney Homan (Routledge).
