The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and The Graduate School are providing virtual experiences and opportunities for prospective and accepted students to learn more about Montclair State, engage with faculty and staff, and get a sense of our welcoming Red Hawk Country community.

Undergraduate Admissions

“Ensuring applicants continue to receive our prompt attention and assistance as they make important choices about their education has been top-of-mind for us,” says Jeffrey Gant, director, Undergraduate Admissions. “We’ve worked quickly to make sure students have access to staff through web conferencing and phone appointments, and we’ve moved many of our resources online to help students get to know Montclair State, even if they can’t visit campus.”

For undergraduate students applying to Montclair State for Fall 2020 entrance, the application deadline has been extended to May 1, 2020, for Freshman Students and June 1, 2020, for Transfer Students. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted to accommodate high school and college closures or delays in processing transcripts. For accepted students, the deposit deadline to reserve their space at Montclair State has been extended to June 1, 2020.

A new Live Chat feature is available on the Admissions Homepage. Here, prospective students can connect with an actual admissions staff member and have questions answered in real time (this is currently staffed M-F 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Graduate Admissions

In an attempt to alleviate stress for prospective students at this time, The Graduate School at Montclair State is being flexible with access to the Admissions team and is creating Virtual experiences for accessing information.

“We have an exciting slate of virtual graduate program information sessions scheduled, and will be expanding our offerings in the weeks to come. Additionally, prospective students have the ability to directly schedule a one-on-one virtual appointment with an Admissions Recruiter at their convenience,” says Bryan Moschel, director of Admissions and Operations, The Graduate School  “We’re looking forward to continuing to serve prospective students in new and creative ways.”

At Graduate Admissions, critical information is already online and easy to access remotely for prospective applicants and students:

  • A Resource Page provides prospective students and applicants with regular updates about what they can expect from The Graduate School at this time.
  • Admissions Recruiters are available to meet via email, phone or web conferencing regarding graduate programs or the application process. Schedule a meeting with an Admissions Recruiter at gradschool@montclair.edu.
  • Applicants with canceled or rescheduled testing dates for the GRE, GMAT, PRAXIS, TOEFL or IELTS exam can receive one-on-one advice on how to expedite their application by calling 973-655-5147 to speak with an Admissions Counselor.

In addition, Graduate Admissions has moved all previously scheduled in-person information sessions to webinars, hosted on Zoom. Learn more about upcoming webinars and other virtual experiences coming soon!
