The Fall calendar of Inserra Chair events embraces film, education and sports with themes ranging from family and trauma, baseball and race, as well as trans-language/cultural approaches in education. The geography they design spans from Sicily to Latin America and New Jersey. All events are online with live interpretation, and the last one is an intimate in-person event (COVID-permitting). The special guest this semester is acclaimed director Emma Dante.
These free events open to the public are the result of local and international collaborations, namely with the Academy of Italian Cinema in Rome, the Yogi Berra Museum, and the MSUNER/Center for Pedagogy. The calendar of both events and additional projects reflects institutional goals in terms of research, public service, inclusivity as well as diversity with specific reference to our designation as Hispanic Serving Institution supporting targeted initiatives for LatinX students.
