Benjamin Nienass, Associate Professor of Political Science and Law, recently participated in a discussion held at the 9/11 Memorial Museum titled, “Invisible Victims: 9/11 and Undocumented Immigrants.” It is estimated that of the 2,977 people killed on 9/11, 67 were undocumented immigrants – the majority having been workers at the Windows on the World restaurant atop the North Tower.

Joined with Alexandra Délano, Assistant Professor of Global Studies at the New School, and Dr. Sekou Siby who shared his own 9/11 experience as one of these workers, the panel highlighted the stories of undocumented immigrants who died on 9/11, while discussing the complex legal processes of proving their existence and ensuring they would not be forgotten.
