Programs offered in the Computer Science Department: Computer Science, Information Technology, and Data Science are restricted majors requiring a High School GPA of 3.0 or higher for Computer Science and Data Science, and a 2.7 or higher for Information Technology.
For Incoming Freshmen
First Semester Major Courses
- MATH 111 or MATH 122 (based on placement)
- CSIT 104
- CSIT 114
These courses must be passed with a minimum grade of C- within the student’s first year.
For Currently Matriculated MSU Students Interested in Declaring Data Science
Before submitting a declaration of major form to the department, students must have completed MATH 111 or MATH 122 or AMAT 120, CSIT 104, and with grades of C- or higher. A GPA of 3.0 is required.
