Our mission is to enhance and support the innovative research at MSU by providing excellent and sincere care of research animals, and a high- quality services to our animal research community. LAR supports invivo research projects by providing a different array of services that includes animal husbandry, veterinary care, animal procurement, and personnel training. LAR thrives to assist MSU faculty, staff, and students involved in invivo research projects with the information, training, and guidance on the proper techniques, methods, appropriate care, and the biological requirements of the species used.
Our goal is to maintain an optimum level of animal welfare and compliance with all federal, state and local regulations governing animal use in research.
LAR maintains an approximately 4600 sq. ft. specific pathogen-free facility at the center for environmental and life sciences, in the school of Science and Mathematics. Learn about the Vivarium access requirements.
