Prospective Undergraduate Students

The Right Fit

If you’re interested in teaching, learning and research in science and mathematics, you’ve come to the right place. Montclair State University’s College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM) offers strong baccalaureate and certificate programs in the sciences and mathematics, as well as articulation programs in biology or chemistry with Rutgers University and Seton Hall for students looking to get on the fast-track in medical fields.

Putting the Pieces Together

Through a variety of discovery-based courses and research opportunities, students are engaged in scientific and mathematical discovery in the classroom, in the laboratory and in the field. Skilled faculty will guide you in your interests, whether it's genome sequencing or medicine, space exploration or environmental management, geography or geology, aquatic sciences or terrestrial sciences, calculus or computation, science informatics or computer science.

Best of all, you'll be learning by doing in our many facilities like the Center for Environmental and Life Sciences (CELS), the Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Lab or the Environmental Modeling Laboratory. If you're inquisitive and constantly seeking answers, you'll feel right at home! Our students are highly ambitious, motivated and curious, which explains the popularity of our 5 Year Programs. These programs eliminate the divide between undergraduate and graduate studies overlaping both credits so you can complete a BS and MS degree in 5 years! Learn more about the requirements and how to prepare yourself for our 5 Year Programs.

Fostering Relationships

There's a unique opportunity to be a part of the CSAM living community, spanning multiple wings of the University's Dinallo Heights dorms. This placement puts students in an environment that promotes academic excellence and fosters personal, intellectual, social and academic growth.
