Kaleidoscope is a 90-minute non-stop extravaganza of diverse repertoire celebrating the Cali School’s talented faculty and students. The concerts feature the MSU Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Chorale, University Singers, Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra, and chamber and solo artists.

The University Singers and Vocal Accord present traditional and contemporary choral repertoire, including music by contemporary composers Jake Runestad, Jocelyn Hagen, Melissa Dunphy, Karen Marrolli, and Gwyneth Walker. The featured guest artist soloist is alumna Abigail Brodnick, a coloratura soprano and grand prize winner of the 2023 Camille Coloratura Awards (student division), finalist in the 2023 Sherrill Milnes Opera Idol Competition, and a study grant artist with the 2023 Savannah Voice Festival.

Presenting inspirational choral music for today’s world by contemporary female composers. Vocal Accord presents the NJ and Greater New York Metropolitan premiere of “Songs for the People” by EMMY-award-winning African American composer Jasmine Barnes. This piece, based on the poetry of Frances Ellen Watkins Harper (1825-1911), highlights music’s transformative power. University Singers will perform choral works by Melissa Dunphy, Jocelyn Hagen, Karen Marrolli, and Gwyneth Walker, exploring themes of connection, understanding, affirmation, equality, and freedom. The Chorale will perform “Illuminare,” Elaine Hagenberg’s first extended work for SATB chorus and chamber orchestra. “Illuminare” journeys from darkness and confusion to restored hope and peace using sacred texts in Latin, Greek, and English.
