Overview

The Master of Arts in Teaching Program in Subject Area and Teacher of Students with Disabilities is a 48-51 credit program designed to provide graduate students with a master's degree as well as dual certification: initial certification to teach in a subject area (P-12) and certification to teach students with disabilities in those settings. Students who apply to this program must hold a bachelor's degree, complete the Graduate School Application, and meet Graduate School requirements.

Additional Requirements for State Certification
The following additional requirements must be met prior to student teaching. Upon admission to the MAT Dual Certification program, the student's submitted transcripts are evaluated to determine if any of these requirements have been fulfilled by previous coursework. In such cases, the requirement(s) appear on the degree audit as being waived.
