TETD 819: Analytic Review of Empirical Literature
In this course, students produce an exhaustive review of the empirical literature in their field of specialization. They conduct database searches to generate a pool of published empirical studies across a specified period of time and systematically analyze the resulting corpus to identify patterns and trends, and, more importantly, to uncover gaps in the research that may inform and shape their subsequent dissertation research. At the same time, students engage in processes and practices associated with academic publishing (e.g., peer review processes, writing to a specific journal's author guidelines, evaluating publishing venues for their work).
