How to Apply for a Second Bachelor’s Degree

Review eligibility, required materials and additional standards for second bachelor’s applicants.

Program Eligibility and Limitations

• Second bachelor’s degrees are offered in many, but not all, undergraduate programs at Montclair State University.
• They are not available for all majors in the Feliciano School of Business.
• They are not available for students seeking teaching certification programs, except Physical Education.
• Students interested in business majors not open to second bachelor’s, or in most teacher certification programs, should consult The Graduate School for graduate-level options.

Online Application and Fees

• Complete and submit the application designated for Second Bachelor’s students.
• After submitting, check your application portal for instructions to:
  • Pay the $65 non-refundable application fee.
  • Pay any required audition fees for Dance, Music, Music Therapy, Musical Theater or Theater programs through your status page.
  • Submit an official transcript from the accredited college or university where you completed your first BA or BS degree.
  • If your first degree was earned at Montclair State University, an official transcript is not required.

Additional Admissions Standards by Program

In addition to general transfer standards, some colleges and schools have specific GPA, course, portfolio or audition requirements for certain majors. Second bachelor’s applicants should review the admissions requirements page for their intended program to confirm that you meet all program-level criteria before submitting your application.
