The Office of Education and Community Outreach in the College of the Arts and Atlantic Health System recently cohosted the 4th Annual Healing Voices Literary Readings here on campus. The evening celebrated the creative writing of the winners and participants of the Healing Voices Contest.

This year’s competition asked writers to focus on the theme of Kindness and answer the question: What does kindness mean to you? There were 34 entries of poetry and prose from 27 writers representing a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Dania Ramos, an award-winning author and playwright, and program coordinator in the College of the Arts, served as the host for the evening. Featured readings included works written by Nancy Mendez-Booth, Daun Hook, Elaine Barden and Jutta Braun.

The contest was open to Montclair State University faculty, staff and students along with Atlantic Health System employees, volunteers and medical staff members.
