The Department of Theatre and Dance’s ambitious program, The New Works Initiative (NWI), will premiere Jeff Talbott’s gripping new play Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 pm in the L. Howard Fox Theatre. The production, which tells the story of two groups of college students in two different times trying to organize politically, is the result of a year long commission awarded by NWI, giving Talbott and Director Wes Grantom the opportunity to shape the new play in collaboration with Montclair students.

Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors has already received considerable theatre industry attention- even before its opening. The play is a finalist for the prestigious 2018 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center and Kenneth Jones, playwright and editor for Playbill.com, features the production in his blog. Performances run through the weekend and you can get tickets by clicking here.
