Anabella Poland, General Manager of Montclair State University’s 90.3 WMSC-FM, was recently named President of College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI), a member-driven organization serving students and advisers of college and high school electronic media outlets. Poland was originally elected to the volunteer position last year and was scheduled to begin serving her term in May, but a recent change in the organization’s bylaws allowed her to start the position this semester.

“It’s an honor to serve in this position and lead an organization that is so important to current and future communication and media students,” Poland said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to advocating for my students at Montclair State and all over the country.”

Under Poland’s leadership, WMSC has earned several national awards, including “Best College Radio Station” and “The Spirit of College Radio Award,” as well as four prestigious NAB Marconi Award nominations. In October 2022, WMSC earned three national awards from CBI, including first-place honors for “Best Audio Special Broadcast” and “Best Audio Promo.”

In 2016, Poland was awarded the “Meaningful Impact Award” at Montclair State University’s Professing Excellence Awards; in 2019, she received the Jeff Tellis Outstanding Advisor Award which is presented to one advisor in the country to note outstanding leadership, dedication, and service, and in 2021, Poland earned the Joel Willer Award in recognition of exceptional dedication and service to student electronic media.

Before joining Montclair State University nearly eight years ago, Poland was the Director of Talent & Industry Relations at SiriusXM. Before that, she was a Segment Producer at ABC’s News Good Morning America. Her work has appeared on ABC World News, 20/20, and Nightline, and she also contributed stories to abcnews.com and to the first network initiative aimed at Hispanic audiences, ABC News Exclusiva.
