Elizabeth McPherson, professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance, has been awarded the 2026 Daniel Nagrin Research Fellowship from the Library of Congress Music Division.
Made possible through a generous donation from the Daniel Nagrin Theatre, Film & Dance Foundation, the fellowship supports scholars conducting in-person research on the legacies of modern dance pioneers Daniel Nagrin and Helen Tamiris. Recipients use the Library of Congress’s Music Division collections to advance original scholarship in dance history and performance.
McPherson will use the fellowship to continue research for her forthcoming biography of Helen Tamiris, the influential modern dance choreographer who was married to Daniel Nagrin for two decades.
The competitive fellowship supports graduate students, faculty, artists, and researchers whose projects make significant use of the Library’s performing arts collections while contributing new scholarship to the field.
