Alumni Alison Halpern Named Dietitian for ShopRite of Hackensack

Inserra Supermarkets has announced the appointment of Alison Halpern as the new retail dietitian for ShopRite of Hackensack. In this position, Halpern will lead the store’s extensive range of nutrition counseling and programming, providing customers of all ages with a health and wellness resource.
A resident of Bloomfield, Halpern has a strong background in public health and community health education. In June 2015, Halpern completed her dietetic internship at Montclair State University, where she studied clinical nutrition, community nutrition and food service systems, as well as medical nutrition therapy. Halpern also graduated summa cum laude from Montclair State with her B.S. in nutrition and food science with a concentration in dietetics, and cum laude from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with a B.S. in public health.
Most recently, Halpern worked as the head counselor at HealthBarn USA in Wyckoff, where she led interactive nutrition education and cooking lessons for children and adapted recipes to accommodate food allergies and cultural preferences. Previously, she served as a health promotion supervisor at Montclair State’s Office of Health Promotion and was a volunteer nutrition instructor at the Bubble Foundation in Manhattan.
