Bianca Mayes

I chose public health because I am passionate about the intersectionality of social justice and health disparities for marginalized populations. Montclair has supported my academic and professional endeavors by providing me with guidance and encouraging me to find my voice to advocate for critical public health issues. During my education at MSU, I worked as a Health Promotion Supervisor for the Health Promotion department. For my graduate internship, I worked as a Digital Education Specialist for Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

I am a public health advocate for healthy sexuality which encompasses: sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, sex education, etc. Now, I work at Garden State Equality, New Jersey’s statewide LGBT organization as the Health and Wellness Coordinator providing cultural competency training to healthcare providers. In my free time, this Gryffindor loves to travel, read, and explore new restaurants!
