Byron Yake had an award-winning sports writing career at The Associated Press. Then, in 2005 he began writing another chapter when he created Write on Sports — a summer camp for kids.

Over the course of two weeks, the tuition-free camp introduces middle school students to researching and writing about a sports topic of their choice.

College professors, such as Montclair State University’s Erik Jacobson, enlist the help of a team of interns to coach campers in formulating questions and conducting and simulating interviews. In turn, it ultimately inspires children to find out what it is they want to do in life
