On February 20, 2020, at a luncheon held at the Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair, New Jersey, it was announced that the charitable organization, Pathways to College, would receive a $5 million dollar donation from Oprah Winfrey. This grant will help the nationwide after-school program as it supports students of color in school districts with fewer resources, including schools in Newark, New Jersey. As Montclair State University, Newark Public Schools, and the American Federation of Teachers recently launched New Jersey’s largest teachers academy as a model to grow the teacher pipeline and address teacher diversity, this gift directly impacts the next generation of New Jersey educators.

Congratulations to Pathways to College on this well-deserved recognition.
