Dr. Emily Klein, Professor in the Teaching and Learning Department, and Dr. Monica Taylor, Professor in the Educational Foundations Department, won a 2019 TRENDY Award for organizing a special issue of the journal, The Educational Forum. Their work received the gold award for a scholarly, technical, or scientific journal.

Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. The Educational Forum
is Kappa Delta Pi’s peer-reviewed, scholarly journal that focuses on national and international educational issues.

Once a year, The Educational Forum, Kappa Delta Pi’s premier research journal, publishes a cutting-edge issue addressing one of the most important and urgent topics in education. The October–December 2019 issue was on the topic of “Theatre of the oppressed as liberatory praxis in research and teaching,” co-edited by Monica Taylor, Emily J. Klein, Alan Amtzis, and Tabitha Dell’Angelo. This issue features the work of educators and scholars who are seeking tools and lenses for creating new ways to know, see, and imagine not only the classroom but the world we live in. In times of great unrest and despair, Theatre of the Oppressed provides a glimpse into how we might re-make that world.

The TRENDY Awards are given by Association Trends and they seek to honor the best in association and nonprofit marketing and communications.
