Dr. Stephanie Silvera interview with NJ Spotlight

Dr. Stephanie Silvera, Professor in the Public Health Department, commented on the 66% effective rate of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine with NJ Spotlight:

“Unfortunately, I think these numbers are lower than we were all hoping for, especially after seeing the Moderna and Pfizer numbers of 95%. That being said, there are tradeoffs that we have to acknowledge between having a vaccine that’s one dose and does not require this deep freeze, which means that we could possibly get it out to a broader spectrum of the population quicker. So, any immunity is obviously better than zero, which is what most people have right now. So, it’s really about weighing out the positives and negatives of each of these vaccines.”
