Participants Needed for Study on College Students’ Perceptions of Risk & Prevention of COVID-19

Dr. Doreen Liou, Associate Professor in the Nutrition and Food Studies Department, is conducting a qualitative research study on the dietary beliefs and prevention of coronavirus among college students enrolled at Montclair State University. COVID-19 is a worldwide pandemic affecting all ethnic groups & the consequences of it can result in severe health effects. Participation in this research study can benefit the northeast college community by empowering health professionals and educators serving this population. In addition, participants can benefit from this study by gaining insights on their health beliefs related to COVID-19.

In order to be a qualified participant, you would need to be a full-time undergraduate college student at MSU between the ages of 18 and 29 years of age, living in New Jersey.  Please note that participation in this study is voluntary and all responses to the interviews will be kept confidential.

This study has been approved by Montclair State University Institutional Review Board, Study #20-21-1881.

An informed consent & participant letter will be emailed to qualified participants.


As an incentive for participating in this study, you will receive a Starbucks gift card of $10.  The interview will be held on Zoom. The interview will be approximately 10 to 15 minutes, in which it will be audio-recorded for transcription.  Your responses to the interview will remain confidential with no names reported in the transcript or aggregate data.
