Counseling Students Win Ethics Award

Doctoral Counseling students Suni Sharma, Rebecca Randall, and Matthew Tirrell, won 1st place in the American Counseling Association Graduate Student Ethics Competition – Doctoral Level. The ACA states that “The American Counseling Association (ACA) Graduate Student Ethics Awards for Doctoral Degree Students recognize exceptional, demonstrable understanding of the ACA Code of Ethics, the foundation of ethical professional counseling practice.” Suni, Rebecca, and Matt responded to a complex case with multiple ethical dilemmas covering issues of race, COVID, telehealth, supervision, and several other constructs using an ethical decision-making model and current research. Their essay will be posted on the ACA website in the near future, and they will be honored during the ACA Virtual Conference Experience this spring. The ethics competition is open to master’s and doctoral level teams across the country.

We are so proud of our team’s success and excellence in this national competition.
