Alumni Thomas Groman was recently named acting superintendent of Ridgewood, New Jersey, public schools. He was previously the principal of the high school, and has served the district for nine years. Among the initiatives under his leadership have been the addition of the STEM curriculum and classroom, the expansion of mental health and well-being offerings for students, and the implementation of the 1:1 Chromebook program.

The transformation of the Learning Commons and Fitness Center and an increase in standardized test scores and college acceptance rates have also been accomplished under Dr. Gorman’s leadership.

He stated, “I am humbled and honored to be part of this transition and appreciate the Board of Education’s confidence in me. These are very challenging times, and we have a lot of work ahead of us. But this district, with its faculty, staff and students, is second to none.”

Dr. Gorman earned a doctorate in education from Rutgers University in 2010.  He holds a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Montclair State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree with a history major and a business administration minor from Muhlenberg College.
