Dr. Schwarzer, Professor in Secondary and Special Education and a native from Argentina, has received this prestigious award for the Spring semester 2019. The award will provide Dr. Schwarzer the possibility to:
1. develop and teach an Action Research class to two distinct audiences – novice researchers and practitioners at Universidad de San Andres – UDESA (one of the top universities in Latin America);
2. develop and conduct several workshops in different public and private institutions in Buenos Aires, Argentina to promote their internationalization efforts; and
3. conduct research with an already established research team from UDESA on translingualism in Buenos Aires’ “villas” (low income and under developed neighborhoods) currently hosting a variety of multilingual populations from neighboring countries. These populations are multilingual in Spanish and several “original” languages – Quechua, Aymara, Guaraní, among others.
Dr. Schwarzer’s Fulbright will also center on promoting exchange programs between MSU’s faculty and students and Argentina’s institutions of higher education involved in this grant.
