Op-Ed: Shifting NJ from Worst to First in Maternity Care, by Jill Wodnick, Coordinator of Maternal-Child Health Programming and Community Outreach
Posted in: College News and Events
Jill Wodnick, working in the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health, recently wrote an op-ed piece for NJSpotlight.com on the safety of maternal care in the state of New Jersey. She mentioned how the percentage of cesarean births is very high in NJ, even in low-risk births. Additionally, she highlights her experience with new mothers and found they were not offered basic services that could have made birthing experiences better.
Jill Wodnick is a national speaker on improving maternal-infant health. A doula and childbirth educator working in public health, she currently leads a “Giving Birth & Being Born” initiative at Montclair State University. She has been part of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women’s Global Prenatal Initiative as well as local and statewide programs for improving maternity care.
